    Miu Hirano and Mima Ito are two of the most promising young players from the Japanese Team. At a young age they have already proven their strength but against the North Korean pair in the finals of the Women’s Doubles today, Hirano and Ito struggled. Eventually, Kim Hye Song and Ru Mi Gyong controlled the game and successfully won the title.

It is worth noting that Ms. Ito is still 14 years old. Despite the age, the coach actually thinks selecting her is reasonable.

    The Japanese Table Tennis Association officially announced the players for the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jun Mizutani, Koki Niwa and Maharu Yoshimura were nominated in the men's team. In the women's team 14-year-old Mima Ito will replace Sayaka Hirano and will join Ai Fukuhara and Kasumi Ishikawa.

    Mima Ito reached new heights in June's world ranking. After winning the 2015 Belarus Open, the 14-year-old player entered the world's top-10 and is probably the youngest player to achieve such a feat. In the men's world ranking there were ni changes in the first places.

    Mima Ito emerged as champion of the 2015 Belarus Open and clinched her second World Tour's title. The Japanese player overcame Misako Wakamiya in the final. In the U-21 Hitomi Sato won the first place. Japan also won the title in women's doubles with Miyu Maeda and Sakura Mori.
