Ma Long and Li Xiaoxia qualified to Rio 2016 (VIDEOS)

China stumbled on the first day of competition at the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament but eventually booked the first places to Rio 2016. Ma Long emerged successfully over Fan Zhendong and is the first qualifier in East Asia, while Li Xiaoxia stood victorious over Kasumi Ishikawa. 

Ma Long and Li Xiaoxia are the first qualifiers of East Asia to the Olympic Games Rio 2016. Ma Long, who has some problems on his wrist, defeated his teammate Fan Zhendong by 16-18, 11-3, 11-6, 11-7 and 13-11. 

On his way to the final, Ma Long beat Japan's Maharu Yoshimura by 11-3, 11-6, 11-7 and 11-8; Hong Kong's Wong Chun Ting by 11-6, 17-15, 11-9 and 11-5 and Zhang Jike by 11-3, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 7-11 and 11-7. 

In the women's event there were some surprises. Liu Shiwen was eliminated by Hong Kong's Doo Hoi Kem by 9-11, 5-11, 10-12, 12-10, 11-4 and 7-11 in the first day of competition. Ai Fukuhara also suffered an early departure. She lost to Hong Kong's Lee Ho Ching by 9-11, 5-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 and 10-12. 

On the second day, Ding Ning faced defeat my hands of Mima Ito. The Japanese star won by 6-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-5, 6-11 and 11-9. 

But Li Xiaoxia waved the flag for China at the end of the day. The Olympic champion swept with Kasumi Ishikawa by 11-9, 11-8, 11-3 and 11-4, and will be in Rio 2016 to defend her title.
