ITTF. The 2015 Japan Open has entered into the main draw of the competition and some unexpected results took place. Singaporean Feng Tianwei is not out of the Singles.
An upset was recorded in the opening round of the main draw of the Women’s Singles today. The Singaporean seed, Feng Tianwei lost to the host Misako Wakamiya in 7-11, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-7, 9-11.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Team also posted a defeat in the opening round after their qualifier, Liu Fei lost to the promising Japanese player, Mima Ito. On the other hand, Other Chinese seeds posted stable performances into the next round.
As for the Japanese Team, three players failed to progress in the first round. They are Yuka Ishigaki, Sayaka Hirano, and Misaki Morizono.
Some of the matches in the second round took place today. Kasumi Ishikawa gave the home crowd a wonderful performance nailing a 4-0 win against Li Jiao. Meanwhile, Misako Wakamiya survived a challenging match from the South Korean paddler Jeon Jihee in six sets.
Chen Meng posted some difficulties in her match against Germany’s Shan Xiaona, losing the first two sets. But she was able to catch up and sealed a 4-2 victory. Zhu Yuling, meanwhile, didn’t have much trouble with a 4-0 against Doo Hoi Kem of Hong Kong.
Chinese Team lost one pair in the Men’s Doubles as soon as the main draw took place. Fang Bo and Yan An were eliminated by the hosting pair of Masataka Morizono and Yuya Oshima. The partnership of Ma Long and Xu Xin will face the top seed Kenta Matsudaira and Koki Niwa in the next round.
As for the Women’s Doubles, no Japanese pairs have managed to reach the quarterfinals. In today’s round, two of their remaining pairs failed.
