Liu Shiwen’s Barrier To The Olympics Is Feng Tianwei (Videos)

Liu Shiwen has been occupying a major position in the Chinese Women’s Team. In fact she is part of the core team. This just means that she is a strong contender for the Olympic Games. This year, she reached the finals of the World Championships and won her fourth World Cup title. However, it seems that there is still something the coaching staff is hesitating on Liu Shiwen’s capacity.

Yancheng Evening News. Liu Shiwen is a strong contender for the Olympic Games but there is this one thing that might affect her qualification and that is her records against Feng Tianwei.

This year, Liu Shiwen achieved a breakthrough in her athletic career after she won the 2015 Women’s World Cup, sweeping the host Kasumi Ishikawa along the way.

This victory is already Liu Shiwen’s fourth title in the World Cup, making her the third person after Wang Nan and Zhang Yining to have achieved such feat. In terms of the World Championships, Liu Shiwen has also reached the finals twice, 2013 and 2015.

Considering this record and the poor condition of the Grand Slam champion, Li Xiaoxia, Liu Shiwen has a good chance to be reported for the Rio Olympics. However, there is one thing that can discourage the coaching staff to select her for the Olympics.

That is her record against Feng Tianwei. In the past years, she has already lost four times to the Singaporean player. Just this year, she lost twice, in the Asian Cup and the Asian Championships.

For the coaching staff, selecting Liu Shiwen to be in the Rio Olympic is crucial. In 2012, Liu Shiwen was not reported for the Olympic Games.
