Ai Fukuhara Sorry For Her Defeat (Video)

Yesterday, as the Women’s World Cup had its quarterfinal round, Ai Fukuhara failed against Petrissa Solja. That is despite her 3-0 lead in the match. In her interview after the battle, the Japanese player wasn’t able to hide her disappointment. She said that she was responsible to her defeat and that she feels sorry for all her fans who came and cheered for her. 

Sohu Sports. The second day of the 2015 Women’s World Cup ended with an upset in the side of the home team. Ai Fukuhara expressed her disappointment afterwards.  

Yesterday, Ai Fukuhara had a good start against Petrissa Solja, posting a big lead of 3-0. In the fourth set, she even had the match point. But unfortunately, she failed to seize her opportunities well. 

She lost in 11-8, 11-6, 11-2, 12-14, 5-11, 8-11, 6-11.

After the match, Ai Fukuhara can’t hide her disappointment, after all the competition was held in her hometown. “My mind is blank. I was leading in three sets and I got the match point in the fourth set. But I was not able to use it well.” Ai Fukuhara said. 

Japanese media pointed out some outside factors that might have caused Ai Fukuhara’s defeat. One of them was the camera flash in the fourth set. It even interrupted the game for awhile. However, Fukuhara said that she was responsible for her defeat. 

“The responsibility of losing that match was on me. For all the people who came and cheer for me, I really feel sorry!” Ai Fukuhara concluded. 

Despite the defeat, life moves on as Ai Fukuhara turns 27 today. Happy birthday!
