ITTF. Latin American continues dominating the 2015 World Cadet Challenge's girls event. Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico and Bruna Takahashi of Brazil emerged successfully in quarterfinals and reached semifinals. This is the first time that two Latin American players are in semifinals of this tournament.
Adriana Diaz, top seed, overcame Russia's Elizabet Abraamian by 11-5, 11-8, 11-6, 4-11 and 15-13. Bruna Takahashi also is in semifinals. The Brazilian player defeated Egypt's Rinad Fathy by 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 and 11-3. Tomorrow Diaz will meet Andreea Dragoman of Romania, while Takahashi will face Anastasia Kolish.
In the boys event Europe showed its supremacy again. Cristian Pletea of Romania, top seed, stood victorious over South Korea's Song Junhyun by 11-7, 8-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7 and 11-5 in quarterfinals. In semifinals Pletea will meet Yang Chuo of China.
The second semifinals will be a European duel. Medardas Stankevicius of Lithuania eliminated USA's Jack Wang by 11-9, 11-9, 11-2, 6-11 and 12-10 in semifinals. Stankevicius will face his teammate Truls Moregard of Sweden. He reached semifinals after beating Japan's Koyo Kanamitsu by 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 9-11, 11-4, 9-11 and 11-9.
