Europe and Latin America were crowned champions at the 2015 World Cadet Challenge. Europe posted a sweeping victory over Asia in the final match.
Romania's Cristian Pletea stood victorious over Kyyo Kanamitsu by 11-8, 11-7, 10-12 and 11-8. In the second match Medardas Stankevicius stood victorious over Yang Shuo by 6-11, 11-8, 11-5 and 12-10. In the third match Truls Moregard defeated Song Junhyun by 2-11, 11-5, 11-9 and 11-5.
This is the third time that Europe wins the title. In Helsingborg 2008 the European team had got the title for last time.
But the big surprise was caused by Latin America. The Latin American team emerged successfully in the women's event and claimed the first world title in the history of the tournament.
Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico paved the way to victory as she defeated Russia's Anastasia Kolish by 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 6-11 and 11-4. Bruna Takahashi of Brazil overcame Andreea Dragoman of Romania by 11-9, 11-6 and 11-7 and got the second point for Latin America.
In the third match Christina Kallberg of Sweden beat Esmerlyn Castro of Dominican Republic by 11-8, 11-4 and 11-7 and kept hopes alive for Europe. But Diaz destroyed European hopes and made Latin American dreams come true. She overcame Dragoman by 11-2, 12-10 and 11-6 and sealed victory for her team.
