ITTF. The 2015 Asian Championships has reached the final day of competition today and before the concluding matters, the Men’s Singles had their penultimate round first.
The first semifinal match in the Men’s Singles was between the veteran Chuang Chih Yuan and the fastest-rising star of the Chinese Team, Fan Zhendong. After winning two championship titles already, Fan Zhendong was getting close to his third.
It surely was not easy for Fan Zhendong to face such an experience player in the match. As their battle progressed, Chuang Chih Yuan became bolder, putting pressure on the young opponent. However, as what was expected from Fan Zhendong, he survived the challenge and will be in the finals.
Fan Zhendong scored 11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-7, 11-7.
In the lower half of the draw, Xu Xin faced Wong Chun Ting of Hong Kong. In yesterday’s match, Xu Xin survived a challenging battle from Jung Youngsik of South Korea. Today, the battle he had to go through still had some challenge.
Xu Xin quickly established control over the table and had a 2-0 lead. His opponent resisted in the third set but Xu Xin didn’t give him any chance. He was up in 3-0. Wong Chun Ting continued to fight hard in the match and in the fourth set, he succeeded. He successfully extended his lifeline.
Wong Chun Ting tried to resist for the third time but in the fifth set, Xu Xin ended it to his favour. Xu Xin sealed a 4-1 victory into the finals (11-7, 11-2, 12-10, 10-12, 12-10).
