China Advances Into The Men's World Team Cup Finals (VIDEOS)

China and Chinese Taipei met each other again for the second consecutive time in the World Team Cup. In their previous encounter, Taipei took one match after Zhang Jike lost against Chen Chien An. This time, the Chinese Team was very strong with a sweep victory into the finals. Meanwhile, North Korea upset the Japanese Team as they booked their place in the women's team finals.  

ITTF. The 2015 World Team Cup has reached its penultimate day of competition and the first semifinal matches were decided. China and North Korea advances into the finals. 

The first semifinal match in the men's division was like a rematch between China and Chinese Taipei from the 2013 World Team Cup. In that competition, Zhang Jike lost to Chen Chien An

Fan Zhendong and Chiang Hung Chieh ushered the match and the 17-year old sensation was quick to own the control. Chiang was not able to keep up with his opponent and accepted defeat in 0-3. Fan Zhendong sealed the first advantage for China with 11-4, 11-4, 11-5.

The second match was the anticipated rematch of Zhang Jike and Chen Chien An. The first two sets were easy for the Grand Slam champion. But in the third set, Chen Chien An gained good control and posted his lead. Zhang Jike was trailing behind but was able to overtake to match point, 10-9.

When Zhang Jike found his rhythm, he scored 5 straight points, marking his redemption against Chen Chien An. He completed the match with 11-4, 11-6, 11-9. 

The Doubles match was between outstanding pairing of Xu Xin/Fan Zhendong and Huang Sheng Sheng/Chiang Hung Chieh. The start of the match favoured Taipei's pair as they got the first advantage. But it didn't actually set the tone of the match. 

Xu Xin and Fan Zhendong slowly established themselves in the match and that gave them the opportunity to lead to 2-1. Juat as China thought they can seal the match in the fourth set, Huang and Chiang stepped up their game and forced a decider. 

Sensing danger, Xu Xin and Fan Zhendong immediately took control and posted a 7-0. They sealed the match with 8-11, 11-9, 11-4, 7-11, 11-6.

North Korea and Japan faced each other this morning for a seat in the finals in the lower half of the draw. Without their main players, Ai Fukuhara and Kasumi Ishikawa, Japan struggled in the match as their North Korean opponents took advantage of their young players.  

Ri Mi Gyong defeated Sayaka Hirano in 3-2 while Ri Myong Sun offered the second point for her team after a 3-2 win against Yuka Ishigaki. The Doubles victory of Kim Hye Song and Ri Mi Gyong against Japanese pair of Misaki Morizono and Sayaka Hirano, sealed the match. 

North Korea takes the place in the finals.
