Kenta Matsudaira Exits In The China Open First Round

Chinese players started strong in the 2014 China Open as the Men's Singles had their opening match for the main draw. But for Japan and Chinese Taipei, it was not absolute success. Kenta Matsudaira and Chen Chien An lost in their opening battles.

ITTF. The 2014 China Open started with their main draw today with the Chinese delegation imposing full authority over their opponents.

Xu Xin, Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Wang Hao, Fan Zhendong and Yan An all achieved good starting points in the competition.

However, Ma Long had to endure a rather hard match against Wen Wei Chieh (11-13, 11-4, 11-8, 11-6, 12-10).

But for the Japanese Team, they have to lose Kenta Matsudaira after he was ousted by South Korean Jeong Sang Eun in a sweep (9-11, 6-11, 11-13, 3-11). Japan may have lost a seeded player but a qualifier avenged such loss. Yuto Muramatsu defeated Chen Chien An of Chinese Taipei in 4-1 (11-5, 11-9, 11-8, 5-11, 11-6).

As for the Women's Singles, Liu Shiwen, Ding Ning, Li Xiaoxia, Chen Meng, Zhu Yuling and Wu Yang all progressed into the next round after posting powerful performances.

While the top seeds in the Singles were safe through the opening round, the Men's Doubles wasn't able to achieve the same. Chiang Hung Chieh and Huang Sheng Sheng were defeated by Jeong Sang Eun and Park Chan Hyeok.

We will be seeing Kenta Matsudaira more in the competition as he, together with Koki Niwa, progressed into the next round of the Men's Doubles.
